Roatan Weather Information

Roatan Honduras has typical tropical weather. It is usually beautiful and sunny, but if the temperature goes above 95 degrees it will rain for a few minutes until the temperature drops below 80 degrees. The hurricane season is from May through October. It is recommended that you get travel insurance if you are traveling to Roatan during the hurricane season. Roatan typically only gets hit with a hurricane every 5 to 10 years.

Roatan has a beautiful offshore breeze that will keep you cool on even the hottest of days on Roatan. Most buildings on Roatan are not even air conditioned, it's really not needed. Make sure you use sun block while on Roatan since the tropical breeze keeps you so cool you will not feel the sunburn coming on. You can even get sunburned on cloudy days on Roatan. Keep your children well covered in sun block while on Roatan, and reapply after they get out of the water.

Most visitors to Roatan don't realize that the closer you get to the equator the closer the sun rises at 6:00 AM and sets at 6:00 PM. Also, the closer you are to the equator, the faster the sun rises and sets. Roatan is is only 15 degrees north of the equator this is much further south than most of the Caribbean.
