Roatan Butterfly Garden
This lovely butterfly garden is located at the West End
Village of Roatan and is the perfect place to stop and see some of Roatan’s
most colorful butterflies and a small collection of rescue birds such as
parrots, macaws, and toucans. Join one of many hour long guided tours or
feel free to explore the Roatan butterfly park on your own.
There are a wide variety of exotic plants,
orchids, and tropical fruit trees
throughout the Roatan Butterfly Garden. At the small gift shop there is a nice selection of
butterflies that have been mounted for display and some local Roatan crafts.
The Roatan Butterfly Garden is open 9-5 daily and is closed on Saturdays and holidays. The entrance fee is $7.00 US for adults and $5.00 for children under the age of ten.
Roatan’s Butterfly garden normally has 15 to 20 butterfly species in a 3000
square foot enclosure. Most of the time there are as many as 200 butterflies
to capture your attention. There is an informative display showing all the stages of the
butterflies development.
Be sure to bring your camera so you can take some wonderful photographs and video. Wear red so that the butterflies are more likely to land on you. It is also rumored that a drop of maple syrup on your wrist will attract a lot of butterflies.
Roatan's Butterfly Garden caters to small and large groups, but it is
suggested that if you are coming with a group larger than 20
people that you make a reservation ahead of
time so they can assure everyone has a spectacular time at the Roatan
Butterfly Garden.
